confirmed on Saturday that the tourism sector is a priority for his administration. In this way, it will be promoted and strengthened for the benefit of all Peruvians and improve economic performance through the creation of new jobs.

“For my government, tourism in all its forms is a clear priority as we offer the world the best of us, our values, our tastes through food, art, history, our products and customs that originated many years ago,” he said. .

In addition, the head of state stressed that Peru has a wide variety of tourist offers on the coast, in the mountains and in the jungle, which generate economic resources and improve the quality of life of citizens.

The senior official pointed out that Peru is well known around the world for these destinations. Therefore, Peruvians should make the most of this activity, which brings significant benefits to the entire nation.

In this sense, he recalled that this sector has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is time to work towards achieving this recovery, which will lead to job creation, he said.

“We have been working to promote domestic tourism; fortunately the Peruvians were able to learn how to look at the regions and returned to various destinations; they returned with pride and identity. Domestic tourism allows us to learn more about ourselves and rely on tools to invite friends from all over the world,” he said.

Mr. Castillo also confirmed that his administration welcomes investments across the country to rely on better hotel infrastructure, in addition to services and airlines expanding their footprint, thus encouraging price competition.

“On behalf of the state, as President, I thank you for the valuable efforts made to revive the tourism sector and cooperate in restoring the number of visitors (…),” the Head of State said, addressing those present.

Finally, the senior official welcomed the holding of Peru Travel Mart 2022 and confirmed that the executive branch will join the efforts of the business community to stimulate tourism activity in the country.

The event, which takes place at the Lima Convention Center, was attended by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sanchez, and representatives of the sector.
