Saunders OPG visitor center opens for 2022 summer tourist season

Cornwall – Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is pleased to announce that the Saunders HPP Visitor Center (SHDVC) has reopened to the public as of Wednesday, June 1 for the 2022 summer tourist season.

Located at 2500B Second St. West, on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Cornwall, Ontario, the OPG visitor center showcases the rich history of the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power, as well as affected communities and individuals. The center also has immersive and informative interactive displays that make it a key tourist destination in the Cornwall area.

SHDVC is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. The summer tourist season starts on June 1 and ends on Friday, September 30, 2022.

“We are pleased to announce the reopening of the Saunders Hydroelectric Visitor Center to the public,” said Mike Woodcock, RH Saunders Power Plant Manager. “At OPG, we believe in being good corporate citizens and neighbors. The Visitor Center serves as a safe, inclusive and educational space for tourists and community members.”

SHDVC closed in March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
