Singapore is optimistic about the development of tourism in the country through the holding of global events

Restrictions due to COVID-19 have been eased in many countries. Many countries open their arms to people from all over the world. One such country is Singapore. The country has opened its borders to tourists and is ready to give them a warm welcome. Not only that, the tourism department is optimistic about welcoming people and giving them the opportunity to explore the country through various activities.

Over 150 local and international events were organized in the country in the first three months of this year, according to a Bloomberg report. Now Singapore wants to host many exhibitions, events, conferences and other events to give investors and tourists a chance to come to the country. As quoted by Bloomberg, Deputy Executive Director of the Singapore Tourism Board Yap Chin Siang said in a statement: “The business community is looking forward to the opportunity to meet and network in person.” He also added, “This desire, as well as the recent easing of our border restrictions, will help the MICE industry recover quickly.”

Not only that, Singapore has many plans for the end of this year that will draw more attention. These include an annual meeting called the Shangri-La Dialogue, the Global Health Security Conference, the Milken Institute Asia Summit, the AIJA Annual Congress, and Gamescom Asia.

Even Singapore is building international relations through these global events. Recently, the Government of Singapore invited Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal to present “Model Delhi” at the World Urban Summit. The move is welcome for India as it will provide urban solutions to other global partners.

Another reason that contributed to the growth of tourism in Singapore is the restrictions in Hong Kong. The city is one of the most visited tourist destinations, but as the number of infections in the country is still on the rise, Hong Kong is still subject to a mandatory quarantine period. This opened doors to neighboring countries such as Singapore. With so many global events taking place in Singapore, it will be interesting to see the growth of tourism and the economy of this tourist hub.
