Among the waves of events resurrecting after the COVID-19 pandemic halted the community coming together, Southgate Heritage Days should be making a comeback.
This event has been a popular celebration in the community for more than four decades.
It has been canceled in the last two years due to pandemic precautions, but family vacation days are set for June 16-19 at Market Center Park, 13631 Eureka Road.
The event is back with everything that made it so popular with attendees – activities for kids, food, live music, carnival, parade, arts and crafts and more.
Julie Goddard, Director of Parks and Recreation Southgate, said the community has already received a lot of positive feedback since the announcement of the return of Heritage Days.
“We are very excited and happy to have him back,” Goddard said. “Me and Laura Walsh, the mayor’s secretary, worked on it. We started in November and continue to this day.”
She expects Legacy Days to be even better than before.

Events usually didn’t start until the second day of the event, but this year’s opening day will be “all about the kids.”
Fun characters like Batman and kids’ pranks will be an important part of the holiday.
