VDOT Asks Virginia Residents for Feedback on Travel Preferences

RICHMOND, Virginia. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Virginia Department of Railroad and Public Transportation (DRPT) seek public feedback on travel preferences.

They encourage Virginians to respond to survey requests to learn about travel preferences and opinions.

The results of these surveys will help officials and planners determine where and how to invest in transport to improve bridges and roads, for example, as well as cycling, walking and other transport projects. VDOT advises that any information provided in the course of any survey will be kept confidential.

Virginia residents will be randomly selected to receive mail-in requests for the following survey:

National Household Travel Survey

The National Household Travel Survey is conducted every five to seven years by the Federal Highway Administration.

Respondents access a secure website where they will be asked to answer questions about their household, vehicles and daily commute. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Those who complete the questionnaire will receive a check for $10. Depending on the answers provided, additional questions may be asked with additional compensation.

VDOT says the two-dollar bill attached to the letter is an initial thank you.

The National Household Travel Survey began in January 2022 and will run until January 2023. To learn more about the National Household Travel Survey, click here.

VTrans biennial transport study

The Virginia Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, in partnership with WBA Research, is conducting a survey in support of the Virginia Transportation Plan (VTrans), which defines transportation goals and targets and selection of transportation projects.

In this survey, respondents will use a password to access a secure website where they will complete a 20-minute survey. Respondents who complete the survey will receive a $10 e-gift card.

If you have received a survey and would prefer to answer it by phone, you can call 833-397-4141 to schedule an interview at a convenient time for you.

The biennial VTrans transport study is scheduled for July 8 and will run until October 2022.
